Drug Abuse
DRUG ABUSE When drugs are taken without the doctor's advice and direction it is called drug abuse. Sometimes people take certain drugs repeatedly in order to obtain an effect that they enjoy. so they may form the habit of taking the drug. These drugs which people develop an urge to take are called habit-forming drugs. Drugs can make you well if you take them according to the doctor's instructions but they can be dangerous if taken without the guidance of the doctor. You must not take drugs that the doctor has not prescribed for you. The effect of a drug may be for a short time or it may last a long time, depending on the amount taken, but when the effect wears off, the condition for which the drug was taken may come back. This makes the person takes more of the drug, and so it goes on and on. Once a person forms the habit of taking a drug, he may find it difficult to do without it. He may become nervous and desperate to obtain more of it. This may lead him into all sorts of trouble, from simple bad behaviour to crime such as violence and murder. Drugs can also alter the working of some of your organs permanently or temporarily. Habit-forming drugs should therefore be avoided by everyone, young or old, if they wish to maintain good health. Personal experience: I just had a baby on the 19th of May, 2000. After 6 days, I started having some pains in my head like headache, the headache was there for about 2, On the 8th day after the naming ceremony, i decided to consult a friend about my condition, who later told me to use one medicine not prescribed by my doctor, I bought the drug and used it but instead of the drug to clear my headache, it wanted to take my life, infact it would have taken my life if not for the quick intervention of my husband who quickly rushed me to a nearby hospital, where we were told that the drug I took made my blood pressure to shoot up to 180/100, if not for God, I would have died just like that. I spent close to 3 months at the hospital before I can come back to my senses. and I could not take care or even see my baby for 3 months. My mother took care of my baby for me. The worst part of it was that I lost my mother a month after I came back to my senses. If not for God, I would have suffered a stroke, heart attack. So, do not take any drugs the doctors has not prescribed for you. Do not form the habit of taking a drug i.e habit-forming drug kills learn from me.
